Affordable Home, A New Facelift For Labuan
Date:2014/11/19
LABUAN -- The affordable home project in Kg Ganggarak is expected to be a centre of attraction to resolve the prolonged congestion in downtown Labuan.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the project initiated early this year is scheduled for completion in the next two years as part of the government's plan to help the middle and low income groups to own houses.
He said the housing development project would comprise a recreation park, community hall, shopping mall and Surau.
"The project is a facelift for the duty-free-island," he said after making brief visit to the project site on Sunday.
Tengku Adnan said 1,560 units were being build on a 16.8 hectare (41.56 acre) site in the village and priced between RM156,000 to RM180,000 each while another 500 units, priced from RM42,000 to RM50,000 would be build at Kg Batu Arang for the low income group.
He said the ministry was optimistic of providing 10,000 units of affordable homes in Labuan in the next five years, provided it has sufficient funding and land.
