UMCity Medini Lakeside breaks ground

NUSAJAYA (May 22): The groundbreaking ceremony for UMCity Medini Lakeside was held in Medini Iskandar yesterday.

The project is a premier mixed-use integrated development by United Malayan Land Bhd (UMLand) with Samsung C&T.

The ceremony was officiated by Johor chief minister Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin, marking the start of construction works at the five-acre site.

“UMLand’s UMCity development reflects the highest level of confidence in Medini as the preferred destination for investment. This catalyst development will become the new nexus in Medini, bridging the lifestyle components to Medini’s fast-growing business components,” Khaled said.

UMLand group CEO Datuk Charlie Chia said UMCity is positioned as a “world-class commercial hub” in the Iskandar region, and is “a one of its kind waterfront integrated development designed [as a] conducive environment for business, leisure or [residential living].”

UMLand said the development plans for UMCity will be tailored for the Medini Business District to help make it the leading business area in Southeast Asia.

The international multidisciplinary design company Aecom will be responsible for the design of the Medini Lakeside public park.

〔THE CHINA POST〕 TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Facing a low-performing local real estate market, Taiwanese investors are reportedly putting their money abroad in up-and-coming development properties throughout Southeast Asia. Two large international real estate firms hosted separate press conferences on Tuesday to analyze the latest trend in real estate purchases. According to Executive Director David Chin (泰啟松) of Asia Pacific International Property, the firm, which specializes in real estate transactions in the Asia-Pacific region, made nearly NT$7.3 billion in sales.
